Go from gloomy to happy in 2 minutes

Happy mood

Some days staying positive and happy can seem like an uphill task. But yoga has certain breathing techniques that can uplift your mood instantly. So
the next time you want to turn around a stressful day at work or get over a fight with your partner this breathing technique can lift your mood and make you smile.
Deergha swasam or three part breath is an incredible tool you can use to feel happy. The deep inhalation in this breathing technique helps to deliver a lot of oxygen to your body and brain, and soothe your nerves, that in turn reduces stress and helps you calm down.

  • Sit comfortably and keep your shoulders relaxed, away from your ears. Rest your hands comfortably on your thighs.
  • Keep your chin parallel to the floor and relax the jaw muscles of your face.
Practice each part of the parts separately
Part I- Belly breathing
  • As you sit comfortably, place your palms on your belly pointing your fingertips inwards.
  • Now take five slow deep breaths and feel your belly rise and fall beneath your hands.
Part 1
Part II- Ribcage breathing
  • Now gently place your hands on the sides of your ribcage. Your fingers should be in front, and your thumb should wrap around your back.
  • Take five deep breaths and feel your ribcage shrink and widen.
Part 2
Part III- Chest Breathing
  • Now place one of your hands on your chest and keep the other one on your thighs.
  • Now take five deep breaths again. Keep your focus on the center of your chest and your upper back and try not to tense your shoulders.

You will be amazed how this breathing technique can enhance your mood after completing these three steps.
